Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to describe the initial phase of a project to develop Project Organizers (POs) which support personalization of instruction; a sense of community around reading and writing; and high quality professional development for educators. Project Organizers are designed to guide learners through exploration and research of instructor-selected topics incorporating carefully curated content to address single or cross-curricular subjects. In nurturing individual interests and self-selected topics, POs advance the goal of developing evidence-supported argumentation essays and in-depth research papers.
