Abstract: New approaches in E-learning: Implementing chess as an effective tool for developing higher order thinking skills. Researchers suggested that chess players reached high performance levels at younger ages. Chess players perform basic cognitive processes such as perception, memory, and problem solving. The purpose of this paper is to show how computer-based technology can help K-12 students to develop higher order thinking skills. Specialized computer software and chess databases can help researchers to analyze collected data from chess players at any given time.
