Abstract: The purpose of this best practices presentation is to share experiences implementing a competency-based online hybrid course and the development of a course delivery system to support self-regulated learning. The summer 2015 course, Technology Resources for Learning, aims to prepare students in the use of academic technologies commonly used at the University of Hawaii. The system was developed by the College of Education’s Distance Course Design and Consulting group using a modified version of the open source platform WordPress. Learner data was collected using the Experience API, an Activity Theory informed technology, with data exposed to instructors and students through course dashboards.
