Changing Cancer Care by Changing Disorienting Dilemmas – When e-Learning really becomes a matter of Life and Dying
Abstract: Doctors are legally obligated to communicate a medical diagnosis and what they plan to do to care for it, i.e. a care plan. However, patient experiences like the one below depict a common example of the poor communications physicians have when communicating life limiting news like death as a result of cancer. Inadequate effective education is the primary reason why health care professionals underperform when striving to deliver holistic person centered care that is beyond the basics. Other reasons are, geographic and time limitations to access the best education, personal issues with death and dying, and lack of team or organizational support are other factors. Hence the great need for a comprehensive asynchronous e-Learning system to teach anyone, anytime, anywhere with effectiveness.
