Designing A Constructivist Learning Environment and Supporting With Web 2.0 Technologies At Community College

Abstract: There was conducted research about problems at community colleges. To solve these problems different organizations such as OECD, 21st Century Commission on the Future of Community Colleges, The Group of Restructuring Vocational Education present suggestions In this regard, constructivist learning environments could be useful to overcome with learning and teaching problems. The purpose of this study is to design a web 2.0 supported constructivist learning environment and to examine the students’ perceptions about this learning environment. The study was conducted in the department of computer programming in a two-year higher education institution in Turkey. First of all it was presented how was the learning environment designed based on constructivist learning principles as well as what students acted in this environment. At the end of the course students were interviewed. As a result students’ perceptions regarding the learning environment were positive.
