Share Paper: Design Remix: Harnessing Mahoodle and Virtual Simulations to Deepen Student Experiences of Indigenous Land-based Learning

Abstract: Our grant-funded redesign of the Indigenous Studies Program begins with a pilot course that integrates an experiential, land-based learning model founded on an Indigenous worldview with the Moodle online platform and Mahara ePortfolio building process. Meeting face to face only during the land-based component, students will camp on the land, engage with Survival Specialists, Knowledge Keepers and Elders, and explore Indigenous resurgence through the activities. Subsequently, students will build ePortfolios to capture, explore and share their experiences.
