Preparing for digital natives: Evaluating educational technology training in pre-service teacher colleges in Kenya. A narrative review of literature
Abstract: As learners become more technologically savvy, and the use of educational technology tools take hold in classrooms, there is need for teachers to be able to effectively use these technologies to reach students. However, most pre-service teachers’ colleges often do not deliberately teach the teachers how to use educational technology in classrooms. This paper reviews the extent to which pre-service teachers’ training colleges in Kenya incorporate teaching pre-service teachers how to use educational technologies. This review explores the curricula of Kenyan teachers’ colleges and explores teaching the use of educational technologies to pre-service teachers. By training pre-service teachers on how to use and integrate technology in classroom instruction, educational officials can plan on teachers being able to meet their students’ technological needs.
