Abstract: Course management systems (CMSs) allow instructors to create courses and present content typically over the Internet. Courses can be created in a CMS called WebStudy that can perform as a tutor might by varying the content to each student and tracking the completion of learning objectives. These personalized and individualized courses can be used to better meet the needs of each student with different situations, learning styles, and performance. With this dynamic and adaptive presentation of educational materials, students can be more effective learners. The role of the instructor is to provide and author the content, as well as to define the rules of dynamic material presentation, facilitate further learning, and perform as a troubleshooting tutor.
