Abstract: The world is rapidly changing as a result of technological innovations. To keep pace with these innovations, education must continually evolve, providing both core knowledge within a standards based environment and necessary global themes and perspectives to help actively prepare all graduates to be successful citizens. Educating global citizens requires that they be technology literate. Students must develop essential skills for this transformative society to become more critical and creative thinkers with the innate ability to communicate and collaborate with a variety of individuals throughout the world. In order for this to take place, educators must be prepared to make good pedagogical decisions that support student learning with technology. This paper will look at how educational technologies are perceived by teacher candidates and how this perception can be transformed into informed practice.
