Teacher Readiness for 1 to 1 Learning Devices in the K-8 Classroom: Lessons Learned

Abstract: The study expanded on existing research in teacher readiness for 1 to 1 learning devices via qualitative exploration of lessons learned from surrounding 1 to 1 school districts. Combined with results from existing research, findings showed the following are critical for enhancing teacher readiness and effectively integrating 1 to 1 learning devices in classrooms: clearly articulating district technology initiatives, updating hardware and software, providing differentiated professional development on integrating technology with added application time, and creating a plan to update and maintain the technology infrastructure. Effective pedagogy and professional development are paramount to classroom effectiveness regardless of the initiative.
