Abstract: Learning journals are a proven approach for promoting learning strategies and metacognition. Weblogs are capable of enhancing some of the potentials of traditional learning journals through the specific capacities of digital media. To support the management of learning journals in didactic settings, in the learninglog.org project a range of functions were added to WordPress, an open source application designed for weblogs. In the following, we discuss the theoretical principles for creating online learning journals as well as present the practical approach taken in the learninglog.org project.
