Abstract: This paper provides a six step procedure for creating a learning community using a course in adolescent literature as an example. The procedural steps are (1) design a learning environment, (2) assign students responsibilities for postings and participation, (3) outline the procedure for the assignment, (4) provide opportunities for student-to-student interactions, (5) read and react to students’ postings, and (6) collect students’ reflections concerning the process of developing the product and student-to-student feedback. Advantages and limitations of the process are also given.
