A Dynamic Model : Process in Becoming an Exemplary Technology Integrator
Abstract: Recent studies continue to show that ICT use in schools is limited and irregular (OECD 2004). In fact, the process of becoming an exemplary technology integrator is complex and often takes up to five or six years. Based on three models of ICT integration process (Moersch, 1995, 2001 ; Sandholtz, Ringstaff and Dwyer, 1997 ; Morais, 2001), this paper puts forth a dynamic four-phase model (Awareness, Personal, Professional and Pedagogical Use) describing the process through which a teacher evolves from being a non-user to becoming an exemplary integrator of ICT in his or her classroom. The model was validated through a multi-case qualitative study.
