Abstract: This paper addresses the process of building constructivist curriculum that supports teachers and administrators in the use of technology in innovative ways to promote social justice goals. Four teacher educators collaboratively engaged with a technology specialist to learn the technology required for digital storytelling in preparation for designing education curricula to guide literacy specialist candidates and aspiring school administrators. As part of developing the curriculum, the faculty experimented with different products and effects. To promote the themes of social justice for labor and immigrants, the demonstration materials employ content focused on Cesar Chavez’s biography and his work with the United Farm Workers Union. In this way, digital storytelling is a means of fusing technology with social justice. Digital story processes, products and lessons learned will be shared with the session audience.
