Brief Paper
ID: 18267
Abstract: This paper a study in a disadvantaged primary school classroom, which was conducted to explore the use of clayanimation as a teaching and learning tool to engage children in the narrative writing process and to develop the skills of storyboarding, and storytelling. However documenting the children’s developing literacy as they use digital media through predominantly text based means is difficult. The Learning by Design pedagogical framework (Kalantiz and Cope’s, 2005) is used as the initial lens to lens to describe the childrens’ learning before considering the impact of the various multimedia symbol forms and texts of different modes of communication used in the project.
