Exploring the Interactional Relationships among Factors Influencing ICT Use
Abstract: The interactional relationships among factors affecting the use of information and communication technology (ICT) in teaching English were explored and analyzed by structural equation modeling. Participants were teachers of English as a foreign language in northern Taiwanese higher education institutions. Findings indicate that all variables have effects on ICT use, either directly or indirectly. It reflects the reality that some variables may indirectly influence other variables via one or more intervening variables. Among them, institutional support serves as a fundamental determinant of ICT use and teacher education is a prominent determinant of ICT use. Policy makers and administrators should attend to teacher-level barriers while embracing technology advances for educational reform.
