Abstract: Improving today’s in-service teacher training programs while providing a more convenient, flexible and cost effective alternative requires a new method of program delivery. The online Entry Year Teacher (EYT) program was developed through collaboration between eTech Ohio and the Montgomery County Educational Service Center (MCESC) to assist in strengthening induction-year teacher training. This technologically enhanced program mirrors the traditional EYT program provided by the MCESC but allows for asynchronous teacher/mentor collaboration as well as a network community of learning between all participants. This presentation will cover the main aspects of the program from the applied technology, course content and the electronic resources that allow this program to be successfully interactive. Additionally, the current research being conducted through The Ohio State University to provide evidence for the effectiveness of this online teacher preparatory course will be discussed.
