Abstract: As the instructional uses of the world wide web continue to escalate, there is a need for continued research on the most effective ways to design and deliver online learning materials. Studies have shown that geographic maps can assist in the recall of related instructional text. This study investigated the effects of map label and textbox location on learning from a geographic map. The results of this study have some practical implications for educators interested in designing online instruction involving geographic maps.
