Share Paper: Teaching to Learn: An Instructional Strategy to Teach Information Technology to Preservice Teachers

Abstract: This roundtable discussion will present a study investigating the effectiveness of “learning by teaching” instructional strategy to teach information technology to preservice teachers at a Mid-Atlantic teacher education college. The “learning by teaching” project was designed to provide students with an opportunity to learn from each other and practice their teaching skills. 39 students participated in the study and their reflection journals on the project were analyzed. The results of the study indicated that “learning by teaching” strategy was effective and efficient. Participants also reported that the project helped them develop their teaching skills as well.
