Abstract: Emory University’s Center for Interactive Teaching (ECIT) partnered with the English Department to offer a hands-on program in instructional technology and pedagogy for graduate students about to teach. Program topics included: building an interactive syllabus; creating digital audio and video content; and using social networking software in teaching. As a final part of this program, participants were asked to create a departmental community resource to support the discussion around blending these technologies with pedagogy. A wiki was constructed containing insights into using instructional technology in teaching, and also providing information about various other topics pertaining to teaching and learning. The program, now in its second year, is looking towards sponsorship by the Dean of the Graduate School to endorse as a campus-wide graduate initiative. Scaling this initiative with limited resources poses unique issues. ECIT’s answers to these issues will be shared.
