The Case Against the Pre-Mature Adoption of Cutting-Edge Technologies: Getting Sharp Without All the Bleeding

Brief Paper ID: 21005
  1. Tip Robertson
    The University of North Texas

Abstract: This paper exposes some of the high costs, missed opportunities, and broken promises that may come from the early adoption of cutting-edge technology into the classroom. It offers six reasons why investing in the latest-and-greatest technology may not be the best use of Education’s funds, time, and other resources. It also calls for four solutions, including the development of a set of National Implementation Standards, to guide the purchase and installation of technology.
