Abstract: It is the intention of this paper to present the use of information technology within the framework of an innovative teacher education program in Uruguay. I have focused my instruction on two key aspects: using IT on an everyday basis and facilitating TESOL student teachers’ process to develop their skills to search, process and communicate information. The aim of the first aspect is to foster students teachers’ incorporation of technology in their teaching practice. The goal of the second aspect is based on the notion that today’s ever changing educational context makes teaching a profession of lifelong development which requires refined skills to search, process, and communicate information in order to update our praxis to best suit our students’ needs.
