Abstract: LEAP 2 Technology, a video-case based interactive program, is designed and developed by teacher educators to help new teachers (1-3 years experience) situate themselves philosophically and begin to conceptualize effective practices for teaching literacy in technology-enhanced classrooms. Mini-cases show experienced K-12 teachers in authentic classroom settings using technology to teach writing. Developing this web-based program became problematic when designers attempted to include a function for blending text and short segments of video in order to create a video-essay. Three general categories of Web 2.0 tools that offered a mechanism for this component of LEAP 2 were explored and will be described.
