Abstract: This presentation will describe the use of convergent and divergent task activities in the online environment. The collaborative nature of tasking is discussed and critical, collegial reflection is introduced as an index of cognitively complex interaction. Data are presented that illustrates how reflective outcomes emerge more from divergent task interactions hosted via an asynchronous forum, while convergent tasking is characteristic of face-to-face encounters.
