Abstract: In this talk, we will discuss our emerging model for Online Asynchronous Collaboration in Mathematics Teacher Education, which involves individual problem solving, public discussion of mathematical thinking, and synthesis and reflection about significant mathematical ideas. With regards to this model it is important to note that we are not seeking to develop an online instructional environment that is isomorphic to face-to-face experiences; we needed to fundamentally rethink what legitimate and productive mathematical collaboration might look like.
