Abstract: Students majoring in K-12 education at a university located in the north Texas area are required to take a course in technology integration as part of their degree requirement. The instructor for this course has had several opportunities to informally discuss field experiences with former students regarding relevance of the course and their perceptions of technology use in the public school classroom. These conversations have proven to be interesting as a way to gain information on how to better prepare future teachers for their role as classroom teachers and to increase understanding of the how they are experiencing the use of technology in the classroom. Students in the field are currently being surveyed in a pilot study in order to expand the knowledge base of the authors in these areas. Technology use through the eyes of preservice teachers in different subject areas and grade levels is examined and discussed.
