Abstract: The use of e learning as a means of supporting music education students during PE(professional experience/teaching practice)is an innovation at Sydney Conservatorium of Music.A 2006 preliminary study examining students’feelings/concerns about perceived problems during PE identified feelings of isolation, lack of professional and personal support and concerns with classroom management/lesson plans.Developing competence in students as eLearners means creating opportunities for eLearning to be integrated in a meaningful way into existing units of study.Three WebCT sites were introduced in 2006 to complement PE and further developed in 2007 for univeristy PE supervisors to focus their support on students through discussion boards to encourage active learning in a collaborative learning environment.Students'and supervisors adaptability to WebCT discussion boards as a means of communication, exchange of teaching ideas and a reduction of anxiety between students and supervisors was investigated in 2007
