Abstract: This research and development project centers on conducting a comprehensive needs assessment to determine the need and optimal strategy for possibly converting an Educational Technology Program Masters’ degree program to an online format. Converting the program will assist many current students in the program who must drive to campus from afar. Further, the conversion is expected to increase enrollment, which has recently declined, because students across the state will be eligible to enroll. Before an online conversion can occur, however, the author must conduct a proper needs assessment to insure that the conversion is necessary and feasible. The needs assessment will also assist the author in verifying interest in the online program determining what design features future students favor (see Palloff & Pratt, 2003).
