ISTE NETS.T Standards: Perceptions of In-service and Preservice Teachers to Technology in Education
Abstract: This paper addresses the perceptions of 18 first year Teaching Fellows and 71 in-service teachers in a HBCU to technology integration in their teacher education program. Two technology instruments were administered pre and post fall 2008 semester; Teachers’ Attitudes towards Information Technology (TAT modified) and North Carolina Basic Computer Competencies for Educators (modified) to Teaching Fellows. ISTE NETS standards were modified into a Likert scale and distributed online to in-service teachers. 71 teachers responded to the survey. Data show that both groups have positive attitudes to technology integration in teaching, but Teaching Fellows are more prepared to integrate technology in teaching than inservice teachers.
