Abstract: This paper presents an evaluation of student learning outcomes pertaining to global learning and cultural implications of technology that are emphasized in a Master’s degree program at California State University, Long Beach. Data sources are drawn from 22 examples of student work on signature assignments in the program, including an assignment to implement and evaluate a global learning project and an assignment to write a research paper on a topic related to social and cultural implications of technology. The analysis of these two signature assignments identifies (1) the extent to which student learning outcomes are achieved, (2) student competencies and areas of difficulty, and (3) ways of refining the signature assignments.
