Abstract: This paper explores how multiple entities intersect with, and in many ways, inform teacher preparation efforts. Drawing on a cross-section of literatures in teacher education and instructional design, this paper takes an interdisciplinary approach by offering an analytical framework for conducting a needs assessment and evaluating a teacher preparation technology-rich learning environment. Such a framework may serve as a useful reference for teams of researchers and practitioners engaged in the all-important work of designing innovative teacher education solutions. This paper also discusses how the analytical framework was used to inform the evaluation of a teacher preparation blended learning environment.
