Bringing Entrepreneurship into Graduate Teacher Education
Abstract: This proposal introduces the case of Learning Design Solutions to demonstrate the link between entrepreneurship and teacher education. This organization aims at creating a context within which student members can develop entrepreneurial skills and competencies, practice managing the organization’s financial and business components in addition to honing their consulting skills and applying their instructional technology expertise to learning problems within the community. The seven members of the board of directors are all graduate students in curriculum and instructional technology at Iowa State University. The nature and organizational characteristics of Learning Design Solutions are examined as well as its members’ perspectives on how they intend to apply this experience to a career in teacher education.
