Abstract: This roundtable session describes a professional development model for fostering teacher leaders in the K-12 schools. Participants in this session will learn from our experiences, including our successes and challenges, in order to help establish their own sustainable professional development initiatives. The particular model used features an emphasis on integration of science and literacy at the elementary (K-6) level to not only enhance student achievement, but also to create an ongoing professional learning community within and beyond the school building.
