Abstract: Since 1995 a method for teaching piano to kindergarteners has been developed at the Pro-Art Music School in Palma (Spain). This method has taken the form of books, stickers, songs, and since 1998, it also has taken the form of a multimedia application. It follows the recommendations of the National Association for Music Education in the United States, and it has allowed over 1500 students to learn music. Using Macromedia Director, we began in 1998 to create the interactive multimedia application subject of this paper. Over these years the project has evolved alongside to the technology, culminating in the tool we now have today. We have a support tool for teachers, a tool to contribute to the improvement of the students, and a tool to increase the educational value of the method while providing a potential for future developments. Part of this paper was published in the Dr. Damian Llopis’ PhD Thesis (Llopis 2004).
