Share Paper: Teachers Exchanging Materials in Web 2.0
Abstract: Because many technology innovations are based on large-scale interactions on the Internet, we examine the potential for this type of system to provide professional development for teachers. A theoretical framework based on knowledge building communities, online peer review, and recommendations in social media is suggested for how these systems could be understood for their learning opportunities. We then analyze data from the website TeachersPayTeachers.com to further understand how these systems function in practice. Our findings indicate that only certain types of feedback correlate with sales. Consequently, professional development opportunities are possible but more investigation is needed.
