Abstract: This paper is a report on findings of the study conducted on a graduate level Zoology practical class on Dissections. Thirty five students of Dr.B.R.Ambedker Open University participated in this study. The main focus of the study was, the Interactive Multimedia mediated dissections developed by using Macromedia Director can be used as a viable alternative for an actual dissection. Findings indicate that, the dissection of animals to teach Zoology is no longer required since, with the technological advancements, there are now modern pedagogical methods: multimedia computer based simulations, interactive CD Roms and virtual labs are to achieve the goal of learning. Students usability of these IM mediated dissections also examined by comparing the knowledge acquisition between the experimental (IM-Scoliodon dissection) and control (actual dissection) groups.
