Abstract: It was not that long ago, in Georgia and in other states, that integrating technology into the classroom was the highest priority for educators. We now see more discussion in the direction of future technology globalization for teachers and teacher educators. In a recent report, The Horizon Report: 2009 K-12 Edition seeks to identify and describe emerging technologies. These interesting notes may not be as exciting as we would first like to think. What we may need is more insight into what the landscape might look like ahead of us. In more than one article, the authors have said that technology changes the way we teach and learn. This alone creates a huge challenge for pre-service teachers, classroom teachers, and teacher educators. This interactive presentation will demonstrate online communication tools to help teacher educators understand how their world is and what technology skills students already have which teachers do not. The discussion will be open to experiences from participants with recommendations for closing the gap between teaching and learning in the 21st century.
