Abstract: This paper describes ways teachers can use the H.E.A.T. framework (Higher-order thinking, Engaged learning, Authentic learning, and Technology) with the New Bloom’s Taxonomy and a variety of low-cost or free online resources to increase the higher-order thinking skills needed to achieve the new National Educational Technology Standards for students. Specific technology resources are tied to each of the levels of the New Bloom’s Taxonomy. Assessment strategies to measure higher-order thinking skills are included as well.
