Abstract: This study presents how a digital storytelling-based project was implemented in computer literacy education of a university in Tokyo and examines the impacts on student motivation. The goal of the course was to acquire skills and knowledge in spreadsheet and data analysis with Microsoft Excel. Traditionally, as a final project, each student was required to write an academic report to express what they found by analyzing Excel data with tables and graphs in the format of Microsoft Word.
