Students’ Attitude of Using Collaborative Writing Project in Web 2.0 Environment: The Use of Mystery Story Writing

Abstract: This study reported the integration of Wikis in writing courses among undergraduate students in northern Taiwan. A course manage system, Moodle, was used to host these writing courses. Participants were requested to create mystery stories with their peers by using “wiki.” Mixed quantitative and qualitative approaches were used to analyze the data of 26 participants. The results suggest that the students’ writing and collaborative group skills were not only improved but also that the students themselves were empowered. Meanwhile, students reported that they enjoyed the integration of technology tool, such as a wiki for language learning and they were less anxious in cooperating with peer editing. During this writing process, students’ motivations were stimulated and their skills of leadership and communication were enhanced.
