Share Paper: Who Will Prepare Teacher Educators?

Abstract: The development of teachers’ capacity to use educational technologies to support student learning is a critical element of most teacher preparation programs, but research suggests that university teacher educators are not sufficiently prepared to provide the necessary instruction and modeling of these technologies. The paper presents evaluation data on a promising program for developing the capacity of teacher educators to prepare preservice teachers to use technology to improve teaching and learning and encourages the development of national educational technology standards for teacher educators.
