Abstract: The Ossabest project is funded by the National Science Foundation to provide opportunities for middle and high school students and teachers to move beyond the traditional classroom in order to engage in hands-on experiences with a range of information technologies. Inquiry-based field work on a remote barrier island is combined with classroom and laboratory study. We report here on the first three years of the project.
