Developing an e-Survey to Assess Parental Self-Efficacy and Competency with Respect to Helping Their Children with Mathematics Homework

Abstract: Our pilot e-survey has been designed to help us (and other teachers, teacher educators and parents) to explore and understand the nature and needs of parents and their children with respect to mathematics homework. Specifically, by presenting the survey online, we are able to minimize costs, efficiently pilot and refine the instrument, reach a broad and relatively representative cross-section of parents, and ultimately collect sufficient data to develop a clear picture of needs in this domain. Through this project we also hope to enhance our experiences in designing, refining and presenting e-surveys and share those findings and observations.
