Abstract: The paper addresses different aspects of technology use with young children that we need to be aware of in order to design meaningful learning environments. These include, but are not limited to, evaluation, curriculum alignment, and teacher roles. Educators need to be aware of these aspects as technology can have a major impact on children learning at different stages of development. Technology refers to the use of computers, mobile devices, e-readers, electronic toys and games. Researchers recommend a one way approach to technology adoption consisting of 1) identification of curriculum and child learning outcomes and 2) technology selection to meet the learning goals (Haugland, 1999, 2000; Hutinger & Johanson, 2000).Future research recommendations include developing better evaluation systems, integration of current knowledge of child behavior and development, and teacher training.
