Abstract: This presentation from an academic librarian’s perspective first discusses how academic librarians provide reference services to library users. It makes the connection between librarians and teacher educators, particularly with respect to the online environment, which offers both challenges and creative opportunities to engage and support learners. As a complement to traditional text-based online reference offered through chat or other instant-messaging systems, academic librarians use technological tools such as Jing to guide library users in their research-related activities.
