Abstract: Earlier research shows evidence that digital natives meet a lack of motivation in studying their mother tongue. Shooting videos, paralleled by the ability to write, can provide an efficient method to regulate a learner’s intrinsic motivation. In this study, building on a design-based research approach, the pupils aged 10-12 years (N=57) carried out three design-based digital video projects. The research data were collected by using both qualitative and quantitative methods. According to this study, the genre of the DV movie produced, different pedagogical patterns, group settings, and the pupils’ diverse ICT skills seem to generate diversity in the results.
