Abstract: College can be a big adjustment period for many. It is a struggle for new student trying to learn the goals of the department, meeting and learning about the various faculty members, and finding your way around. The Learning Technologies Department created the oLTECx 3D environment in response to this issue. The multi-user CRG (Created Realities Group) Framework, a three dimensional online learning environment, was designed as a technology based solution to the shared problem they had all experienced, learning about the various aspects of the Learning Technologies Department. The 3D environment could have the potential to reduce the discomfort and unease experienced by many students in their college careers, and attract them to a specific department’s degree program, thus benefiting both the student and the department. This paper discusses the design goals of the oLTECx 3D environment as well as the forthcoming investigation into its possible use by other departments to introduce students to the department in general.
