Collaborative Teaching for Instructional Improvement
Abstract: This session will present a topic on collaborative teaching – three faculty members co-teach a course being offered in four separate sessions. Four aspects of this collaborative teaching will be discussed: 1) faculty working together to maximize knowledge pool, 2) shared governess in course management, 3) designing the course for effective delivery, and 4) providing extended interaction and support for student learning. The presentation will be concluded with a summary of pros and cons of the collaborative teaching based on students’ feedback collected at the end of the semesters in fall 2009 and spring 2010. Overall speaking, this collaborative effort is successful.
