Abstract: Students beginning a distance education course need to know where to begin. What will they read first? Will it be the syllabus or will they read the syllabus at all? Will key material and assignments be missed due to misdirection or no direction? Establishing consistent content and introducing students to that content effectively is the heart of this session. Visual cues will be explored along with the software Camtasia Studio from TechSmith. With it, instructors can provide a video introduction to students of the course they have just encountered. But to be most effective, an introduction to a new course should begin before the students arrive. Come find out how to maximize the early moments with your students and to see Camtasia Studio software in action.
