Abstract: This presentation will report on an initiative to introduce digital fabrication as part of a children’s engineering curriculum in 4th and 5th grade classrooms. Design-based research will seek to identify appropriate theoretical models and subject matter that capitalize on the affordances of digital fabrication technology to effectively teach mathematical concepts. Recommendations will relate to pedagogy, instructional design, and practical classroom implementation.
